The Balluff RFID traceability system is the next step of SystemSmart towards Industry 4.0. For the multinational automotive corporation Phinia, we designed and implemented a complete solution that tracks every stage of production in a completely contactless way for the operator.
Why have we combined traceability with Balluff RFID?
The client’s requirements included:
- 100 % traceability of components – from receipt to final assembly,
- elimination of human error,
- integration into existing MES and ERP systems.
Balluff RFID technology allows a set of data to be stored in a carrier mounted directly on the workpiece. Readers read the information on the move, making the process intuitive and fast.

- Unattended identification – the operator does not need to scan codes manually.
- Fully compliant with IATF 16949 standards.
- Real-time reporting – data feeds into the production manager’s desktop.

Course of implementation
